The new Open Doors report by the Institute of International Education shows that Costa Rica remains the #8 study abroad destination for US students, and #1 in Latin America. The prior report showed that in 2010-11, Costa Rica supplanted Mexico to become the top choice for US students studying abroad within Latin America. With Costa Rica moving into and maintaining this ranking as a top destination, it is the time to focus research on the impact of study abroad on Costa Ricans. My research looks at the impact of study abroad within the homes of women who host these students. Statistics (above) and Infographic (right): Institute of International Education.
